3 INTERESTING AFRICAN NOVELS YOU SHOULD READ

Hello all! I hope you are having a nice time already, well good news! I think i can help to add more to your "nice time" already. Okay i am not posting any poem or story this time, it's something different.

I was thinking i should let you all know there are some published African Novels out there, waiting for you to read them. So i am going to help you out, by giving you some few selected novels i think is cool enough and soothes your taste.

So here are the lists have got:



1. BLACKASS BY IGONI BARRET:

Woah! this is a very interesting story, "you want", No; "you need" to read. I read it recently and i loved it. It was published in the United Kingdom and Nigeria (2015)  before it became available in the United States in 2016.

Igoni really wrote a lot of quotes and literary devices which helped to show the aesthetic part of the novel. The book is comic in nature and has it main character to be "Furo Wariboko" who woke up to find his skin transformed from "Black" to "White" and later changed his name to "Frank Whyte" after he got a job from "HABA!".

He was black inside, he had black a black character, he talked black but his appearance told otherwise.

The Novel in summary, talked about Love, Lust, Pain, Complexion, Culture, Job, Truth and Lies, The city of Lagos and many more.

For me, it's a thumbs up for Igoni.

2. AMERICANAH BY CHIMAMANDA NGOZI ADICHIE:

Americanah is another amazing book/novel, written by Chimamanda, its a novel you need to read, it was published on April 6, 2013 and it is quiet interesting. If you are familiar with her previously published novels such as: "Purple Hibiscus" (First published by Algonquin Books in 2003) and  "Half of a Yellow sun" (published in 2016) , you will be interested to read "Americanah". 

And if you not familiar with any of them, you could get them through Amazon, goodreads, books.google.com, www.kobo.com, and Okada books.

Chimamanda has a way of capturing the mind of readers, due to her literary styles and devices she uses, She is the award winner of "Half of a Yellow Sun" and also the author of "The thing around your neck" (2009).

3. IN DEPENDENT BY SARAH LADIPO MAYINKA:

This is a novel recommended for students who have written the JAMB examination, it doesn't mean you can't read it too. It's very interesting and rich in contents.

It has its main character to be "Omotayo Ajayi" who got a scholarship to study in the University of England, far away from his family and "Modupe" his first love. He blended easily with the new faces he came across in his new surrounding but found it difficult to cope with the cold weather.

"Vanessa" also play an important role as a student in the same university as Tayo, she was white and also is the daughter of a strict father who was among the colonial masters that settled in Nigerian before its colonization, she later fell in love with Omotayo.

"Christine" is also another major character in the first few chapters of the novel, before her demise, which happened due to her worries of not meeting up to the expectations of her parents, she also had connection with Tayo as they dated before breaking up due to some misunderstandings.

In summary, the novel revolves around Love, Lie, Colonialism, Scholarship, Religion, Lust and many more. Purchase the book in any bookstore around your environment, or you could buy online and read through pdf or epub reader.
